TODD ALAN NEIGHBORS

OCNS - October 14, 2003 - Todd Alan Neighbors, 46, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2003 in the Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Todd was born March 3, 1957 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of Dale G. and Barbara (Milligan) Neighbors.   The family moved to Texas where Todd attended schools in Alvin and also attended Alvin Community College, where he became a welder, the went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company.   Following open-heart surgery and being unable to return to work, Todd returned to make his home in Pawhuska.   Todd married Lavern (Gardner) Goodwin on August 17, 1991, in Alvin, Texas and moved his new family to his grandparents home at 712 East Seventh Street in Pawhuska.   Todd was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to raise Bantam chickens.

Survivors include:   His wife, Lavern Neighbors of the home; a son, Bobby E. Neighbors of the home; step children, Mack, Cindy and Latisha; his parents, Dale and Barbara Neighbors; a brother, Roger Neighbors of Alvin, Texas; his grandmothers Mae Milligan of Pawhuska and Edna Hull of Angleton, Texas; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Jonathan, Ashley, Tyler, Matthew, Mickey and Dayton; aunts, Pat Milligan and Juanita Neighbors of Pawhuska, Alice Neighbors of Hominy, Oklahoma, and Evelyn Williams of Fort Smith, Arkansas; an uncle, Carl Milligan of Oklahoma City; a niece, Stacey Phillips of Alvin, Texas, and a host of cousins and other family and friends.   Todd was preceded in death by a step daughter, Joannie Goodwin.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 17, in the First Baptist Church, Pawhuska with Reverend Tracy Jines officiating.   Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

PAULINE EISENBERGER

OCNS - October 14, 2003 - Pauline Eisenberger, 85, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2003, in the Forest Manor Nursing Home, Dewey, Oklahoma.

Pauline was born September 8, 1918 in Mayetta, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mary (Vieux) Tomey.   On October 16, 1937, she married Charles Eisenberger, Jr., in Pawhuska.   He preceded her in death on June 15, 1958.   Mrs. Eisenberger was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.   She was a homemaker.

Surviving are:   Her children, Charlene Schimeneck of Dana Point, California, Kenneth Charles Eisenberger of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Marcia Williams of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Angeline Kekahbah of Pawhuska; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.   In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a son, George Joseph Eisenberger, who died during the Vietnam War.

Services were held October 14, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska with Donald Stephens officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

DELORES M. MOORE

OCNS - October 10, 2003 - Delores M. Moore, 83, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2003 in the Saint John Medical Center, Tulsa.

Delores was born October 4, 1920 in Chelsea, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ernest and Lena (Ketchum) Slocter.   A graduate of Winganon High School with the Class of 1939, Delores was a star basketball player while in high school.   At one time, she played in the semi's with the Hillcrest Hospital team.   During World War II, Delores worked at the DuPont Factory packing TNT for the war effort, a job she was very proud of.   On July 1, 1949, in Tulsa, she married Hurshel E. Moore, who preceded her in death on February 7, 1975.   In Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Delores was always a familiar face around town, working for local merchants such as Dorothy's, Lovelace Drug, Lowry's and the Duncan Hotel Pharmacy.   She was a fifty year member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors are:   Her children, Darrell Glenn and wife, Charlotte, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Kay Williams and husband, Braxton, of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Carolyn Greene of Pawhuska; two brothers, Howard Slocter of Nowata, Oklahoma, and Ray Dean Slocter of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Joanna Dunaway and husband, Leroy, of Claremore, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.   In addition to her husband and parents, Delores was preceded in death by a brother, Cloyd Slocter.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, at the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska with Dr. Larry Wallace and Reverend Tracy Jines officiating.   Interment will be in the Chelsea City Cemetery, Chelsea, Oklahoma.

ROBERTA C. WALTERS

OCNS - October 9, 2003 - Roberta C. Walters, 92, former resident and school teacher of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, October 6, 2003 in Dallas, Texas.

Roberta was born August 30, 1911 in West Liberty, Illinois, the daughter of George Roscoe and Alice (Cahill) LeFever.   She graduated from High School in Oilton, Oklahoma in 1928 and attended Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University) in Stillwater, Oklahoma.   On December 23, 1930, she married Lionel Wayne Walters in Yale, Oklahoma and the couple celebrated sixty-six wedding anniversaries together before Wayne's death on June 12, 1997.   Roberta returned to OSU to complete her education and graduated in 1954.   She taught school in Oilton, Mulhall, Oklahoma, Stillwater and Pawhuska before retiring in 1973.   The Walters had lived in Pawhuska since 1957.

While in Pawhuska, Roberta was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, a life member of the Retired Oklahoma Education Association, the Osage County Retired Teachers Association, was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for over twenty-five years, and delivered Meals on Wheels for twenty-four years.   She was also a member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter EM of Pawhuska, a Charter Member of the Pawhuska Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority, HEEKO Club and Order of the Eastern Star.

In 1997, Roberta moved to the Atria Retirement Center in Dallas, Texas to be near her family.   There, she became an active member of the Cochran Chapel Methodist Church and Chapter K of the PEO Sisterhood.

Surviving family members include:   Her son, Max Edwin Walters and wife, Chelle, of Solana Beach, California; her daughter, Sue Alice List and husband, Larry, of Dallas; her sister, Fay Keffer of Houston, Texas; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.   In addition to her husband and parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and a son, Richard Wayne Walters.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, in the First United Methodist Church of Pawhuska with Pastor Marcia Shoemaker officiating.   Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

Memorials have been established at the First United Methodist Church of Pawhuska and the Cochran Chapel Methodist Church of Dallas, Texas.

WILLIAM R. (RALPH) SHAFER

OCNS - October 3, 2003 - William R. (Ralph) Shafer, 78, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away September 24, 2003, in the Pawhuska Hospital.

Mr. Shafer was born April 16, 1925 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, the son of William C. and Maudie (Jackson) Shafer.   On October 12, 1945, he married Rosemary E. Richardson in Pawhuska.   A Veteran of World War II, Mr. Shafer served in the U.S. Army, 362nd Infantry, from January 25, 1944 to January 30, 1946.   He was retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

Surviving are:   His wife, Rosemary E. Shafer of the home; his children, Richard M. Shafer and wife, Mary, of Dewey, Oklahoma, Jack D. Shafer and wife, Betty, of Oklahoma City, Ralph W. Shafer and wife, Roberta, of Pawhuska, Mary Rose Stacy and husband, Don, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Georgia Radford of Claremore, Oklahoma, Ruby E. Shafer and JoAnn Johnston of Pawhuska; a brother, Frank Ellis and wife, Velma, of Osage, Oklahoma; twenty-five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.   In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Ellis and Richard Ellis.

Services were held September 29, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend William Boutwell officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

CARL EUGENE REEVES

OCNS - October 8, 2003 - Carl Eugene Reeves, 49, lifelong resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003 in the Saint John Medical Center, Tulsa.

Carl was born September 16, 1954 in Pawhuska, the son of Drewy V. and Kelsey (Hill) Reeves.   On January 21, 1983, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, he married Debra Louse Gray.   He was a corrections officer at Conner Correctional Center, Hominy, Oklahoma.

Survivors include:   His wife, Debra of the home in Pawhuska; his children, Bryce Reeves of Leedy, Oklahoma, Melissa Reeves of Pawhuska and Lindsey-Rikard and husband, Robbie, of Pawhuska; his step-mother, Jessie Reeves of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; his in-laws, Elsie and Albert Gray of Pawhuska; his grandchildren, Sorsha and Johna Brazee of Pawhuska, Drake and Dylan Rikard of Pawhuska and Soquar Paige Bradley of Leedy; his brothers, Leon Vanderpool and wife, Peggy, of Fairfax, Oklahoma, Tommy Reeves and wife, Theresa, of Wynona, Oklahoma, Charles Reeves and wife, Nancy, Chris Reeves and wife, Margie, and Doug Reeves and wife, Debbie, all of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; step-brothers, Walter Toon and wife, Cathy of Barnsdall and Lloyd Toon of Oklahoma City; step-sister, Sylvia Toon of Owasso, Oklahoma; a special nephew, Tony Reeves and wife, Patricia of Barnsdall and a host of other family and friends.   Carl was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vernon Wadsworth officiating.   Honor Guard will be provided by the Connor Correctional Officers.   Interment will be in the Nelagoney (Oklahoma) Cemetery.

CHARLES TROY FURRY

OCNS - October 6, 2003 - Charles Troy Furry, 70, passed away Friday, October 3, 2003 at his home on Hickory Hill near Hulah Lake, north of Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Mr. Furry was born July 28, 1933 in Grosvenor, Brown County, Texas, the son of Claude and Bertha Mallone Furry.   He married Dorothy Lynn Cook in 1953 and also entered the United States Army in 1953, serving until 1956.   Mr. Furry later married Carolyn Myers Baker in 1974.

Troy worked in the oil fields most of his adult life and was the Production Supervisor for Equity Drilling Company in Barnsdall, Oklahoma from 1978 to 1991.   He then became a contract pumper and moved to Hickory Hill in 1995.   He was an avid fisherman and Citizen's Band (CB) radio operator.

Survivors include:   His wife, Carolyn of the home; his sons, Michael Furry of Sedan, Kansas, Steve Furry of Hickory Hill and Pete Kerbe and wife, Barbara, of Bel Air, Maryland; is daughters, Danna Collins and husband, Perry, of Pawhuska and Leann Bailey of Winfield, Kansas; a brother, Charles Thurman Furry of Brownwood, Texas; three sisters, Thelma St. Ama and husband, Wilburn, of Brownwood, Texas, Claudean Windham and husband, Carl, of Big Spring, Texas, and Jewell Wyatt of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, in the Pappin Cemetery, north of Pawhuska with Reverend Willard Lyons, Jr., officiating.

EUGENE WILLIS (GENE) COFFEY

OCNS - October 5, 2003 - Eugene Willis "Gene" Coffey, lifelong resident of Osage County, Oklahoma, passed away October 2, 2003 at the Cleveland (Oklahoma) Area Hospital at the age of seventy-eight years and eight months.

Gene was born February 2, 1925 in Miami, Oklahoma, the son of William Wesley and Ida May Coffey.   At an early age, he moved with his family to Prue, Oklahoma and then to Osage where he was reared and attended school.

Upon completion of his schooling, Gene worked as a truck driver for a short time before being inducted into the service of his county during World War II.   He served in the United States Army as a military policeman and combat infantryman.   Private First Class Coffey participated in the assault on Luzon, the large, northernmost Philippine Island in December, 1945.   He was awarded the following decorations and citations:   Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Army of Occupation Ribbon (Japan), Victory Ribbon with two Overseas Service Bars.   He was honorably discharged on November 17, 1946.

Upon his return from military service, Gene worked driving a truck in the oilfields of Northeastern Oklahoma for a few years before beginning a long career in the pipeline construction business.   He was married to Betty DeLonais on May 27, 1949 at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hominy, Oklahoma and they had two daughters, Vicki and Elizabeth.   They have made their home near Hominy for the past fifty-four years.   During their marriage, Gene worked for Williams Pipeline Company as a side boom operator in almost every state of the Union.   Additionally, he worked on pipelines in Iran, Africa and South America.   He was a member of the International Unin of Operating Engineers Local 627.

Gene was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.   He liked to play dominos and was an avid sports fan.   He was a Hominy Buck supporter and enjoyed watching the University of Oklahoma Sooners.   Additionally, he loved cleaning his 1966 gray Chevrolet pickup truck.   His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.   He was loved by many friends and family.   The following are a list of his name sakes:   Sheila Jean, Johnny Eugene, Karne Jean, Samantha Jean, Barbra Jean, Elmer Eugene, Eugenia, Elizabeth Gene and Samuel Eugene.

Gene is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Betty, of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Vicki Elaine and Keith Reagan of Jenks, Oklahoma, and Elizabeth Gene and Randy Pierce of Cleveland, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Kristopher Keith Reagan, Shelby Elaine Bacon and Matthew Allen Reagan all of Jenks; Valerie Ann Russell, Eugenia Elizabeth Maker, Christopher Kyle Pierce and Samuel Eugene Pierce all of Cleveland; five great grandchildren, Hunter Elaine Bacon, Hailey Mae Bacon, Sophia Grace Regan and Conner Allen Reagan all of Jenks and Jeremey Ray Russell of Cleveland; two sisters, Frankie Gray, of Cleveland and Lucille Bailey of Superior, Arizona; a half brother, John Earl Cramer of Lawton, Oklahoma; two half sisters, Maxine Shaver and Claudean Conway, both of Perry, Oklahoma.   Mr. Coffey was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rufus Coffey and Virgil Coffey; two sisters, Lavern Biggs and Pauline Iness; one half brother, Claudie Cramer and a half sister, Betty Gregory.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2003 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hominy.   Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, also at Saint Joseph Catholic Church with Father Bruce Brosnahan and Reverend C.C. Combs officiating.   Burial will be at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland.

PHYLLIS V. RIDDLE

OCNS - October 3, 2003 - Phyllis V. Riddle, 67, passed away October 2, 2003 at her home in Wynona, Oklahoma, following a prolonged illness.

Phyllis was born March 14, 1936 in LaPlata, new Mexico, the daughter of Demetrio and Marie Berneadetta (Rodriguez) Valdez.   On August 6, 1972, in Center Point, Iowa, she married Sherman Riddle.   She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Surviving family members include:   Her husband, Sherman Riddle of Wynona; her children, Lupina Valdez of Salt Lake City, Utah, Helen Valdez and Jackie Taylor of Denver, Colorado, Priscilla Kenworthy of Hominy, Oklahoma and Sherman Julian Riddle of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; her siblings, Richard Lucero, Jim Lucero, Jerry Lucero and Silvia Cummings all of Salt Lake City and Sue Morrill and Felix Albo, Jr., both of Meeker, Colorado; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Mrs. Riddle will lie in state at the home of her son, Sherman J. Riddle, #6 Twisted Oak, Pawhuska, where Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, October 5.   Traditional Indian Service will be at 8:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, at the residence with Harry Red Eagle officiating.   Mass will also be Monday at 10:00 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Leonard Higgins officiating.   Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

LAURA LAVAUN COOKE

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Laura Lavaun Cooke, 76, passed away September 28, 2003 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Lavaun was born August 25, 1927 in Eustis, Nebraska, the daughter of Harmon and Vern (Mosely) Easterday and moved with her family from Nebraska to Idaho when Lavaun was a young child.   On February 17, 1944, she married Robert Cooke who preceded her in death in August of 1991.   On January 24, 1997, Lavaun moved to Oklahoma.   She had worked as the manager of a gym, owning her own gyms in Buhl, Idaho and Canton, Oklahoma before retiring.   She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include:   Her children, Robert Harmon Cooke of Springfield, Missouri, Russell Todd Cooke of Gooding, Idaho and Laura Gelene Cooke Maritt of Buhl, Idaho; a sister, Clarice Webb; a brother, Wayne Easterday; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; special friends, Betty and Virgil Link of Pawhuska, who cared for her during her illness, and a host of other family and friends.   In addition to her husband and parents, Lavaun was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Easterday.

LESTER HENRY RANDALL

OCNS - September 21, 2003 - Lester Henry Randall, 92, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2003 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Mr. Randall was born August 26, 1911 in Childers, Oklahoma, the son of Arthur Stofield and Laura (Hendricks) Randall, Sr..   On January 14, 1931, in Seminole, Oklahoma, he married Mildred Marie McMahan, who preceded him in death June 11, 1994.   Mr. Randall was retired from Champlin Oil Company.

Surviving are:   His sons:   Bob Randall and wife, Barbara, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Arthur Randall and wife, Barbara, of Tulsa, Charles Randall and wife, Mary, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, David Randall and wife, Patricia, of Tyro, Kansas; his daughters, Judy Randall Nevius and husband, Dennis of Edmond and Jerri Randall Laird and husband, Danny, of Bartlesville; a brother, Arthur Stofield Randall, Jr., of Conway, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great great-grandson and a host oaf other family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Randall was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Allene Randall; a sister, Agnes Ellis and two brothers, Clifford Randall and Elmer Randall.

Services were held Saturday, September 20, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with Reverend Shirley Randall officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

ERMA LEE TAYLOR

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Erma Lee Taylor, 76, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away September 15, 2003 in Tulsa.

Erma Lee was born August 24, 1927 in Checotah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jimmy and Lula (Jones) Dean and on May 11, 1946, in Checotah, she married Fred Taylor, Sr., who preceded her in death.   To their union, eight children were born.   In 1948, the Taylors resided in Oklahoma City and later moved to Pawhuska where Erma Lee worked as a cook at the Duncan hotel Restaurant and also worked for the Drummond and Codding families over the years.   Her greatest joys were taking care of others, cooking for her many family and friends and fishing.   A member of the First Baptist Church at 404 East Third Street in Pawhuska, Erma Lee dearly loved her church.

Family surviving include:   Five children, Armisteen Davis, Etoyce Johnson and Jerri Kay Taylor, all of Tulsa; Terry Ray Taylor of Pawhuska and Gayle Graham of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Ernest Davis of Tulsa and Edwin Dean of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Emma Nelson of Compton, California; an aunt, Cora Jones of Kansas City, Missouri; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.   Erma Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-three years, Fred; three children - Doris Mitchell, Fred Taylor, Jr. and Dale Taylor and a granddaughter, Anita Taylor.

Services were held September 20, in the First Baptist Church, 302 East Sixth Street, Pawhuska with Reverend Milton Colbert officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

CHARLES F. FLETCHER

OCNS - September 21, 2003 - Charles F. Fletcher, 71, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2003 in the Hillcrest Specialty Hospital of Tulsa.

Mr. Fletcher was born September 25, 1931 in Pawhuska, the son of Charles Edward and Minnie (Bighorse) Fletcher and was the grandson of Louis and Ida Bighorse.   In 1972, he married the former Virginia Mae Minix in Pawhuska.   He had worked for over twenty years as an accountant at the Osage Indian Agency.   Following retirement, he became very active as a volunteer for the HELP Workshop, the Edwin Fair Community Center, Volunteers of America and BIO's.   He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict and later as an Honor Guard in Hawaii.   He was a Charter Member of American Legion Post 198 and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska.

Survivors are:   His wife, Virginia Mae Fletcher; his sister, Beverly Rector, a step-daughter, Denise Boren and a nephew, Charles Arthur Rector, all of Pawhuska; a daughter, Susan Fletcher of Hominy, Oklahoma; his son, Charles F. Fletcher, Jr., of Long Beach, California; seven grandchildren, one great grandson and a host of other family and friends.

Traditional Indian services were held Saturday, September 13, at the home with Jake Waller and Everett Waller officiating.   Funeral Mass was celebrated later the same morning at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Leonard Higgins, assisted by Father Ferguson, officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

ROBERT SYLVESTER MUNDY

OCNS - September 9, 2003 - Robert Sylvester Mundy, 62, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, September 4, 2003, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Bob was born August 9, 1941 in Griggsville, Illinois, the son of Sylvester and Beulah (Fowler) Mundy.   He was a mechanic by trade.

Survivors include:   His brothers and sisters, Doris Vickers of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rosetta Canoy of Springfield, Illinois, Lenora Martin of Wichita, Kansas, Frankie Cremeans of Florida, Donna Westfall of Pittsville, Illinois and Juanita Cremeans of Dill City, Virginia; numerous cousins and other family and friends.

Graveside services were held September 8, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Reverend Franklin Mundy officiating.

DENZIL EDITH MILLER

OCNS - October 3, 2003 - Denzil Edith Miller, 85, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away September 3, 2003, in the Pawhuska Nursing Home.

Denzil was born September 22, 1917, the daughter of Will and Allie Ramay and on September 21, 1935, in Henrietta, Oklahoma, she married Hugh Cletis Miller who preceded her in death on November 15, 1985.   Mrs. Miller was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family.   She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Pawhuska.

Survivors are:   Four sons, Loyal Wade Miller of Fritch, Texas, Olen Russell Miller of Noble, Oklahoma, Cecil Walter Miller of Sunray, Texas and Cletus Allen Miller of Pawhuska; three sisters, Eupha Keslowski of Wisconsin and Dema White and Ola Ramay, both of California; sixty grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Hugh, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by a son, Roy Dale Miller and two sisters, June Ramay and Kathleen Barden.

Graveside services were held September 5, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Reverend Scott Hill officiating.

BUCK HENSON

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Buck Henson, 74, resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away September 3, 2003 at his residence.

Mr. Henson was born November 19, 1928 in Maude, Oklahoma, the son of Jake and Gladys (Goodrum) Henson.   A former minister, Mr. Henson had worked most of his life as a mechanic.   He was a Veteran of World War II, serving as a Paratrooper with the U.S. Army.   He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and fishing was his favorite pastime.   He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Gwen McBride and husband, Larry, Dianna Friend, Carol McBurl and Sheryl Johnson; a son, Buddy Henson; a brother, Johnny Henson; his grandchildren, Sarah McBride, Matthew McBride, Justin Friend and wife, Brandy, Fred Friend, Michael and Jonathan Henson, Emily and Jessie Cox, Jonra, Claudia and James; and a host of other family and friends.   Mr. Henson was preceded in death by a son, Roger Henson.

Graveside services were held September 8, 2003 in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney, Kansas with Pastor Marcia Shoemaker officiating.

FLORA LEE COLE

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Flora Lee Cole, 73, resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away August 31, 2003 in the Pawhuska Hospital.

Flora was born December 6, 1929 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Copsey Emmitt and Marie Verna (Hopper) Higgins.   She was a homemaker.

Survivors include:   Three daughters, Rose Lee Malone of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Cheryl A. Davis of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Marilyn K. Goad of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two brothers, William Higgins and Emmitt C. Higgins; a sister, Juanita Bighorse; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.   Flora was preceded in death by two sons, Virgil A. "Sonny" Malone, Jr. and Marion Ray Petsemoie.

Graveside services were held September 3, 2003 in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Reverend Noel Weeks, Eastern Heights Baptist Church, Bartlesville, officiating.

OGOL CLARK KENNEDY

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Ogol Clark Kennedy, 93, passed away August 27, at Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Ogol was born April 10, 1910 in Vian, Oklahoma, moving to Pawhuska, Oklahoma in 1916, where she attended school, graduating with the Class of 1928.   She worked as a telegraph operator at the Western Union until 1931, then as a secretary for the law firm of Arrington, Mattingly and McKenzie for three years.   She was employed in the office of County Attorney of Osage County for six years.

In 1942, Ogol married Ira Kennedy, who passed away in 1973.   In 1997, she moved to her son's home in Tulsa, where she has since resided.

Ogol was preceded in death by her parents, E.J. and Bessie Jane Clark of Butler, East Tennessee, four sisters, Dixie, Nadeen, Mildred and Wildee and a brother, Champ Clark.

Survivors include her son, Clark Kennedy and his wife, Joyce; a sister, Fern; two grandsons, Garland and Neal; six nephews; four nieces and three great grandsons.

Graveside services were held September 3, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Reverend Raymond Redcorn officiating.

LEO C. TOWNLEY

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Leo C. Townley, 84, resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away August 25, 2003 in the Saint John Medical Center, Tulsa.

Mr. Townley was born September 19, 1918 in Townley, Arkansas, the son of Alonzo and Alice (Wilson) Townley.   On February 2, 1938 he married Edna Melvina Scot in Avant, Oklahoma.   During World War II, he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas while serving in the United States Army.   Mr. Townley worked for many years for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.   At the time of his retirement, he was the Foreman for Division Eight (Osage County).   He was a member of the American Legion Post 198.   His favorite pastimes were fishing and playing dominoes.

Survivors are:   His wife, Edna Townley of the home; his daughter, Joan Corsaut and husband, Bill, of Pawhuska; two grandchildren, Billie Jo (Corsaut) McGowan of Amarillo, Texas and Randy Corsaut and wife, Debra, of Skiatook, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren, Ray Corsaut, Tamara Corsaut and Jeremy Bickford, all of Skiatook; two brothers, James Townley and Tom Townley, both of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; a sister, Thelma White of Barnsdall and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.   He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Lucian, Amos and Leburn and two sisters, Velma Parker and Lillian Taylor.

Services were held August 28, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska with Reverend Edgar Beaver of the First Baptist Church in Barnsdall officiating.   Interment was in the Ethel Reese Cemetery, Barnsdall.

CYNTHIA JO PRYOR (TODD)

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Cynthia Jo Pryor (Todd), 41, resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away August 24, 2003 in the Tulsa Regional Medical Center.

Cindy was born November 17, 1961 in Van Buren, Arkansas.   She attended schools in Pawhuska, graduating with the Pawhuska High School Class of 1979.   She was loyal to her friends, always helping them in their times of need and she dearly loved her children and her family.   She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pawhuska.

Surviving are:   Her two children, Danielle Lookout and Penelton Lookout; her step children, Terry Lookout and Jennifer Lookout; her parents, Bill and Diane Todd; her brother, John Pryor (Todd); her sister, Tara Miller; her grandmother, Audie Phillips; three step children, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services were held August 27, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska with Pastor Marcia Shoemaker of the First United Methodist Church officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

ELLEN DANETTE CURRY

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Ellen Danette Curry, 44, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away August 19, 2003, in Norman, Oklahoma.

Ellen was born December 13, 1958 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Dave Lee Crane and Emma Grimley.   She was a descendant of early day Washington and Kay County settlers and was reared most of her life in Pawhuska.   She enjoyed gardening and playing Bingo.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her paternal grandparents, Harold Charles Crane and Alice Mae (Hall) Crane; maternal grandparents, Ed Grimley and Louise F. (Randal) Grimley; and by her beloved grandpa, Herbert A. Pappin and grandma, Ellen F. (Hall) Pappin.

Ellen is survived by five sons, Eric, Michael, Joshua, Adam and Robert; four brothers, Herbie, Dave, Billy and Jimmie; and two sisters, Alicea and Shannon, .

She will be greatly missed by her family.

Graveside services were held August 25, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

HAIRL PARKER

OCNS - August 15, 2003 - Hairl Parker, 95, of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, died August 14, 2003, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2003 in the Highland Cemetery, Okemah, Oklahoma.   Dr. Roger Thompson of the Okemah Church of Christ will officiate under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home, Okemah.

Mr. Parker was born January 10, 1908 in Flippin, Arkansas, the son of Elzie B. and Winnie (Sandery) Parker.   He was a longtime resident of Okemah but had lived in Barnsdall the last seven years to be near his children.   He retired in 1970, as a fieldsman for Cities Service Oil Company, was a member of the Church of Christ and loved hunting, fishing, gardening and the outdoors.

Survivors include:   One son, Doyle "Baby Boy" Parker and wife, Virginia, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; two daughters, Shirley Wadley of Clayton, Oklahoma, and Mary Jane Cox and husband, Gary, of Barnsdall (with whom he lived); four brothers, Colbert Parker and wife, Marcella, of Borger, Texas, Jack Parker and wife, Lois, of Bethany, Oklahoma, E.B. Parker and wife, Jean, of Grants Pass, Oregon, and George Hubert and wife, Alta Mae, of Wewoka, Oklahoma; one sister, Myrtle Price of Waterville, Washington; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, the mother of his children, Anna Belle Hightower, and a host of other family and friends.   Hairl was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Parker, two sisters, three brothers, one grandson and one granddaughter.

PEGGY KATHERYN JACKSON

OCNS - October 3, 2003 - Peggy Katheryn Jackson, 72, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away August 6, 2003, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Peggy was born December 28, 1930 in Arkansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Israel and Julia (Bruno) Diana.   She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska.

Survivors are:   Her children, Diane June Brassfied and Earnest Earl Jackson of Bartlesville, Alex Bickford and Dale Lynn Jackson of Pawhuska, Norma Juliene Farris and Danny Leon Farris of Buchanan, Michigan, Harold Norman Farris of Fort Worth, Texas, and Teena Marie Cramer of Oglesby, Oklahoma; two grandchildren she raised, Wynona Dawn Jackson of Bartlesville and Dale Lynn Jackson II of Pawhuska; a brother, Jimmie Willison of Nebraska and a sister, Clara Ann Young of Lawrence, Missouri; fifteen other grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral mass was held August 11, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Leonard Higgins officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

GLENN LEROY ALLRED

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Glenn Leroy Allred, 72, passed away August 2, 2003 at his residence in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Glenn was born May 18, 1931, in Shidler, Oklahoma, the son of Sam and Rosa Lee (Rollo) Allred.   September 2, 1951, he married Joy McDowell in Pawhuska.   After graduating from high school, Glenn went to work as a baker in the local bakeries until his retirement a few years ago.

Survivors are:   his wife, Joy Allred of Pawhuska and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and many friends.

Graveside services were held August 6, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Reverend James Hager officiating.

VIDA J. WELCH

OCNS - July 23, 2003 - Vida J. Welch, 91, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in the Pawhuska Hospital.

Born, February 14, 1912 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the daughter of David F. and Nellie (Berry) Givens, on January 20, 1932, in Jay, Oklahoma ,she married Floyd William Welch, who preceded her in death December 9, 1957.

Mrs. Welch retired for the first time from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where she had worked for twenty-five years and then went to work in the offices of Welch and Son, a business owned and operated by her husband and son.   She retired from that occupation following another twenty-five years of service.   Mrs. Welch was a member of the Pioneer Club and the Calvary Baptist Church.   Her happiest times were with her family at picnics and special gatherings.

Survivors are:   Her son, Charles Welch and wife, Vivian; her daughter, Doris Jean Conrad and husband, Wendell Gene, all of Pawhuska; a son-in-law, Bobby Joe Thompson of Seminole, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Kay Mayes, Carl Ray Hilton, Alan Hilton, Nina Smith, Brad Hilton, Sherry Parrish and Nancy Thompson; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Sue Thompson; a sister, Maxine Duckett and two brothers, Marcelle Givens and Elwood Givens.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with her grandson, John Mayes, officiating.

BOB C. JACKSON

OCNS - July 23, 2003 - Bob Jackson, 69, of Shidler, Oklahoma, has gone on to a glorious reunion with his Lord, his passed loved ones and friends.   He died July 20, 2003 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital after a forty-three day battle against acute pulmonary fibrosis.

Mr. Jackson was born April 1, 1934, in Fox, Oklahoma and graduated from Healdton, Oklahoma High School in 1952 and Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) at Stillwater, Oklahoma in January, 1957 with degrees in mechanical and petroleum engineering.

After graduation Bob worked for Kewanee Oil Company in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas, settling in Shidler in 1966.   He was an independent oilman and later owned and operated the J & J Cattle Company.

Bob was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Shidler where he served as deacon and Men's Bible Class teacher.   For twenty-five years, he served as Mayor of the town of Shidler.   He enjoyed fishing and hunting but, most of all spending time with his family and living on the prairie of Osage County (Oklahoma).

Bob leaves behind his wife, Doris of the home, who he married May 9, 1954; three children, Bobby and wife, Tammy, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Kimberly and husband, Richard Harper, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Chris and wife, Karen, of Carrollton, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Jim of Oklahoma City; several nieces and nephews and his beloved church family.   In addition to his parents, Golda and Kenneth Jackson, he was preceded in death by one brother, Max.

Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Grace Baptist Church in Shidler, with Reverends Carl Neal, Ed Dowty and David Mendenhall officiating.   Burial, with graveside services, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24, at Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton.

Pallbearers are Lynn Payne, Justin Vogele, Todd Wilhelm, Carl Ball, John Payne and Warren Thomas.   Honorary pallbearers are Dale Satterthwaite, Ernest "Cotton" Allen, W.G. "Hank" Snow, Gene Barnes and Bob Poulter.

C.B. "CHAUNCEY" WITCRAFT, JR.

OCNS - July 15, 2003 - C. B. "Chauncey" Witcraft, Jr., 87, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2003.

Chauncey was born July 3, 1916 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, the son of Chauncey and Mattie (Smith) Witcraft, Sr.   November 28, 1939, in Quapaw, Oklahoma, he married Billy B. Day, who preceded him in death March 7, 1998.   Chauncey was the owner/operator of Osage Surveying Service and Rainbow Oil and Gas Company.

Chauncey was a longstanding member of the American Legion, where he had served as Past State Commander, Chairman of the American Legion Endowment Fund, Chairman of the Board of the American Legion Children's Home and served as the Chairman of the Election Board for Boys State for forty-eight years.   He was a member of the Knights of Malta and was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge (32nd Degree).   He was a member of the National Security Commission and the First Christian Church of Pawhuska.

. Survivors are:   Two sons, Jimmy D. Witcraft and wife, Tedisue and Chauncey B. Witcraft, III; a daughter, Penny Goldesberry and husband, John; two brothers, Don Witcraft and Bill D. Witcraft; his grandchildren, Kimberly Soliano, Teri Stall, Holli Chennault, Kelly Waddle, John Trey Goldesberry, David Goldesberry, Jeanie Witcraft and Nikki Witcraft; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the First Christian Church of Pawhuska with Reverend Bob Chandler officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.   Graveside rites were accorded by the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Masonic Lodge.

OCNS - July 15, 2003 - Madge Rickard Morris, 83, of Foraker, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2003.

Born February 6, 1920 in Foraker, to Thomas L. and Maymie (Van Dyne) Rickard, she lived most of her life in the Osage.   June 1, 1946, she married Lewis Harold Morris in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.   She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Foraker, PEO and the Osage County Cow Belles.

Mrs. Morris is survived by a son, William Thomas (Bill) Rickard and wife, Caron, of Fordyce, Arkansas; a daughter, Ann Bentley and husband, Jim, of Hobart, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, J.L. and Kristy Bentley of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Amber Bentley of Oklahoma City, Lucas and Kit Morris of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Private Jacob Morris of Iraq and a very special great granddaughter, Destiny Alexis Morris of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Lewis Richard (Ricky) and two brothers, Van and Jack Rickard.

Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, in the Foraker united Methodist Church with Reverend Kerney Graham officiating.   Burial was in the Foraker Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Foraker United Methodist Church of the Shidler (Oklahoma) Volunteer Ambulance Service.

CHARLES FLOYD MORRIS

OCNS - July 15, 2003 - Charles Floyd Morris, 93, passed away, Friday, July 11, 2003 at his home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Mr. Morris was born January 4, 1910 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of Stan and Katie (Wade) Morris and on July 25, 1929, married Lucille Van Straten in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.   He was retired from the oilfield business and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pawhuska.

Survivors include:   His wife, Lucille Morris of Pawhuska; a daughter, Sara Stidham of Seminole, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Services for Mr. Morris were held July 12, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marcia Shoemaker of the First United Methodist Church officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

LILATH B. MALASKE

OCNS - July 1, 2003 - Lilath B. Malaske, 86, long time resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2003, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Lila was born February 4, 1917, in Mena, Arkansas, the daughter of Cornelius L. and Myrtle Cato.   July 1, 1950, she married John Martin Malaske in Tulsa and the couple made their home in Pawhuska.   Lila was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Survivors include:   Her husband, John of the home in Pawhuska; a daughter, Freda Moler of Pawhuska; a sister, Vera Howell of Collinsville, Oklahoma; a brother, Olney Cato of Vian, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.   Mrs. Malaske was preceded in death by three children, Edward, Maxine and Larry and several siblings.

Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska.   Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Leonard Higgins officiating.   Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

BRADLEY WAYNE SHARP

OCNS - June 20, 2003 - Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 20, at the Barnsdall First Free Will Baptist Church for Bradley Wayne Sharp, 20, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma who died Monday afternoon, June 16, 2003 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma.   Reverend Frank Munday and Father Leonard Higgins officiated.   Casket escorts were Rusty Goad, Shane Faleer, David Townley, Timmy Moore, Rick Sharp and Billy Dingman.   Honorary casket escorts included Bill Townley and Steve Pickle.   Interment was in the Ethel Reece Cemetery at Barnsdall under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home, Barnsdall.

Brad was born October 8, 1982 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma the son of Lee Vann Reed and Jarethia Ann Sharp.   He grew up and received his education in Barnsdall, Pawhuska and Shidler, Oklahoma.   He had worked as a carpenter and he loved to cook.   At the time of his death, Brad was a waiter at the Hernandez Mexican Restaurant in Pawhuska.   For four years he had attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska.

Survivors include:   His mother, Jerri Sharp of Pawhuska; his father, Lee Reed of Foraker, Oklahoma; three brothers, Michael Reed of Pawhuska, and Dustin Reed and Tanner Reed both of Foraker; his maternal grandmother, Louise Dunaway of Barnsdall; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Laverna Reed of Barnsdall; a close family friend, Brock Carter of Pawhuska; his godparents, Levi and Mary Downing of Barnsdall, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.   He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jack Motley.

SYLVEN E. HUGHES

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Mrs. Sylven E. Hughes, 97, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away June 17, 2003.

Born August 10, 1905 in Caddo County, Oklahoma, she was the first born to Arthur Hennesey and Amy Edith Johnson, both of Mannford, Oklahoma.   She married Pawhuska businessman Roscoe C. Hughes on October 17, 1938 and they made their home on Dial Hill.   Sylven was both an excellent cook and seamstress.   An avid gardener, she was very proud of her prize-winning dahlias.   She was active in the home extension and garden clubs.   A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary, Sylven enjoyed fishing daily from her dock on Bluestem Lake through her late seventies.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe, sisters Bonnie Hennesey and Audrey Tweedy of Pawhuska and brother, Bill Lathan of Tulsa.

Survivors include:   nieces, Susan Worthington and Terri Harbison, both of Tulsa and a host of cousins.

Sylven was a kind and caring lady who never spoke an unkind word about anyone.   She will be missed by every life she touched.   May she rest in the peace she so deserves.

Services were held June 19, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska with Donald Stephens officiating.   Intement was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

JACK C. COLEMAN

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Jack C. Coleman, 67, resident of Fairfax, Oklahoma, passed away, June 16, 2003, at the Fairfax Hospital.

Funeral services were held June 19, at the First Christian Church of Fairfax, with Reverend George Weston presiding.   Interment was in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home.

Jack was born December r30,1935 at Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of James C. Coleman and Viola M. (Tweedy) Coleman.   He was a graduate of Pawhuska High School and married Janise Gibson at Pawnee, Oklahoma on September 21, 1957.   He was involved with the rodeo in earlier years and had been employed in oil field work for some thirty years.   He had also worked for D&P Tank Company of Fairfax and was partners with his wife in the Fairfax Flowers-n-Things floral shop.   He was a member of the First Christian Church of Fairfax.   Jack enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed time spent with his family.

Jack is survived by his wife, Janise, of the home, his mother, Viola M. Coleman of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, one son, Tony Coleman and wife, Cathy, of Ponca City, Oklahoma and one daughter, Jackye Renea Thompson of Fairfax, a former son-in-law, Richard Thompson of Fairfax; four grandchildren, Toni Rae Seelinger, Brandon Clinton Coleman, Richard Quinn Thompson and Buffye Annette Thompson; five great grandchildren, Layne Nicole Petty, Gaylin Petty, Kadin Seelinger, Jay Lea Seelinger and Baley Coleman.   Jack was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, James Coleman Jr., Ronald Carl Coleman and Raymond Coleman.

Casket bearers were Mike Adams, Sandy Parker, Alen Shiffner, George Pease, Richard Thompson and Denny Heath.   Honorary casket bearers were Don Wilson, Tip Asher, Bill Southern, Bobby Pasley, Rick Crenshaw and Bud Trisdale.

EDNA C. CONLEY

OCNS - June 24, 2003 - Lifelong resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Edna C. Conley , 63, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2003 in the Saint John Medical Center, Tulsa.

Edna was born March 23, 1940 in Pawhuska, the daughter of Charles "Roy" and Myrtle (Daniels) Cass.   She attended schools in Pawhuska, graduating with the Pawhuska High School Class of 1958.   Edna retired from the City of Pawhuska on September 4, 2001, after serving as Librarian at the Pawhuska Public Library for forty-four years.   She was a member of the Osage Tribe of Indians, Grayhorse District.

Survivors include:   Her children, Renee Conley Harris and Lance M. Conley, both of Pawhuska; her grandchildren, Leah Harris Bighorse, Bobby Harris, Lindsay Conley, Natalie Conley and Alyssa Conley; her great-grandson, John Star Bighorse, Jr.; her siblings, Dan Cass, Charlotte "Jo" Cass and Jim Cass, all of Pawhuska, LeRoy Cass of Sperry, Oklahoma, Cynthia Pradmore of Fairfax, Oklahoma and Lila Dooling of Skiatook, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Gladys Cass of Pawhuska; and a host of other family and friends.   Edna was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Charles A. and Ellie Maxwell Cass.

Traditional Indian services were held at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Edna's home in Indian Camp Village, Pawhuska.   Interment was in the Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax, Oklahoma.

ALICIA M. PSOMAS CHRISTMAS

OCNS - June 16, 2003 - Alicia M. Psomas Christmas, 73, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away June 13, 2003 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Alicia was born May 20, 1930 in Pawhuska, the daughter of Pete and Andrea Psomas who owned and operated the Lazo's Chili Parlor.   Alicia attended the Catholic School in Pawhuska and later graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1948, where she was a cheerleader and twirler.   Later she attended the St. John's Nursing School in Tulsa.

In 1950, Alicia married Earl Holt Jackson, Jr.   To that marriage two daughters, Debra K. Reed and Gayla M. Dilbeck were born.   In 1983 Alicia married Ace Christmas of Raton, New Mexico where they were in the ranching business and traveled the world big game hunting.   She was an avid member of the National Rifle Association.

Alicia's grandchildren are Katherine, Taylor and Spencer Reed and Hillary, Allison and Hannah Dilbeck all of Pawhuska.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Pete Psomas and her sister, Otilla Lazo.

Alicia did many lifelong acts of kindness for friends and enjoyed many happy moments with her family and loved ones.

The service to celebrate Alicia's life will be a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska.   Memorial gifts may be given in the memory of Alicia Christmas, to the:

WARREN W. ALRED

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Warren W. Alred, 66, passed away June 12, 2003 at his home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Warren was born October 10, 1936 in Wynona, Oklahoma, the son of Luther William Alred, Jr. and Mildred (Hart) Alred.   He had lived his entire life in the Pawhuska area, working in the ranching business.

Warren is survived by his wife, Diana Warrior Alred of the home; a brother, Charles Luther Alred of Pawhuska; a half-brother, Gary Alred of Hulbert, Oklahoma; a half-sister, Theresa Ruth Vestal of Hulbert; his aunt, Ruth Alred of Pawhuska; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services were held June 16, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

HARMON G. BEASTON

OCNS - October 2, 2003 - Harmon G. Beaston, 8, passed away June 10, 2003, in his residence north of Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Harmon was born September 24, 1921 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, the son of Charles John and Ethel (Carpenter) Beaston.   He served in the United States Army for a short time during World War II and in December of 1944, he was united in marriage to Lola Stone of Wynona, Oklahoma.   To their marriage, four children were born; Sharon Faye, Steven Dewayne, Sandy Lynn and Stormy Joe.   They later divorced and in 1959, Harmon married Frankie Gibson.   To their union, three children were born, Harmon Edward, Tonya Sue and Sheila May.   Following his discharge from the Army, Harmon went to work as a cowboy, working for several ranchers in Osage County for most of his life.

Survivors include:   His wife, Frankie Beaston of Pawhuska; two sons, Stormy Joe Beaston of Sedan, Kansas, and Harmon Beaston, Jr., of Pawhuska; three daughters, Sharon Hembree of Sedan; Sandy Tidwell of Pawhuska and Tonya Benefiel of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a "special daughter", Jawaina Walker of Pawhuska; three brothers, Ed Beaston of Stillwell, Oklahoma, Charlie Beaston, Jr., of Claremore, Oklahoma and Don Beaston of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Esther Stone of Ralston, Oklahoma and Minnie Vinson of Fairfax, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.   Harmon was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila; a son, Steven Dewayne; two brothers, John Beaston and Sam Beaston and one sister, Stella White Cotton.

Services were held June 13, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska, with Reverend Bill Benefiel officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

ROBERT L. SELLERS

OCNS - June 6, 2003 - Robert L. Sellers, 56, lifelong resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 in the Southcrest Hospital, Tulsa.

Robert was born July 16, 1946 in Pawhuska, the son of Carl A. and Kathleen "Kie" (Rector) Sellers.   He attended schools in Pawhuska, graduating with the Pawhuska High School Class of 1965.   A former Tulsa Police Officer, Robert had also been the Executive Director of Federal Programs for the Osage Tribe.   He loved working with and racing horses.   He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Elks Lodge No. 2542, the American Quarter Horse Association and Thoroughbred Horse Association.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Erwin of the home; his daughter, Stacy Sellers Eagle Elk of Pawhuska; his sisters, Carla Powell and Dana Sellers both of Pawhuska; his brothers, Larry Sellers and Ted Sellers, both of Pawhuska and Carl Lee "Chico" Sellers of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Nicole Erwin of Fairfax, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Coleman and Lily Skye Eagle Elk; nieces and nephews, Tony Powell, Justin Sellers, Kie Kennedy, Brittney Gwinn, Dillon Gwinn, Erin Blaylock, Jerry Wolf Sellers, Crow Thunder Sellers, Keahsompah Sellers, Taniyawaste Sellers, Nicole Sellers, Ashlee Bellamy, Devon Sellers, Brandi Sellers, Dena Sellers, Sadie Sellers, Sydney Sellers, Sierra Sellers, Robert Sellers, Hank Powell and Trey Powell and a host of other family and friends.   Robert was preceded in death by his father, Carl in 1990 and his mother, Kathleen, in 1979.

Robert will lie in state at the Wakon Iron Community Center, Indian Camp Village, Pawhuska, until service time.   Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Wakon Iron Center.   Mass will be Monday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pawhuska with Father Leonard Higgins officiating.

Interment will be in the Pierce St. John Cemetery, south of Pawhuska.

JAUNITA F. HUNT

OCNS - May 23, 2003 - Jaunita F. Hunt, 86, former resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 19, 2003 at her residence in Oklahoma City.

Jaunita was born January 23, 1917 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Harold and Georgia (Talbert) Fountain and on September 16, 1936 married Emil Neal "Mike" Hunt in Guthrie, Oklahoma.   The Hunts moved to Pawhuska July 13, 1951 and at that time, Mrs. Hunt began working for the law firm of Hamilton and Kane, which was later known as Kane, Kane, Wilson and Mattingly.   She retired from there in 1987.   She was a member of the First Christian Church, The Church Choir and the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as Secretary.

Survivors include:   Her sons, Edward Neal Hunt and wife, Joy Marie, of Edmond, Oklahoma and James Marvin Hunt and wife, Rita Claire, of Garland, Texas; her grandchildren, Richard Neal Hunt and wife, Tessa Marie, Marc Edward Hunt, Gregory Emil Hunt and fiancée, Jennifer Johns, Michael James Hunt and Katherine Marie Hunt and fiancé, Buck Willoughby; great grandchildren, Jacob Neal Hunt and Ethan James Hunt; her sister, Elizabeth Talbot of Oklahoma City and a host of other family and friends.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil, on October 19, 1971.

Services were held Friday, May 23, 2003 at the First Christian Church of Pawhuska with Reverend Bob Chandler officiating.   Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

LANNIE E. FADELY

OCNS - May 24, 2003 - Lannie E. Fadely, 60, passed away May 19, 2003 at his home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.   He was born July 6, 1942 at Sedan, Kansas to Eldon Fadely and Wilma (Utterback) Fadely.   Lannie was a graduate of Pawhuska High School and Oklahoma State University Technical Training at Okmulgee, Oklahoma and was the owner of Pawhuska Auto Salvage.   He was a member of Albert Pike Lodge No. 303 - Wichita, Kansas; Wichita Consistory; Medians Shrine - Wichita; Elks Lodge No. 2542, Pawhuska and Fraternal order of Eagles No. 610, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Lannie is survived by:   His wife, Bonnie of the home; his mother, Wilma Fadely of Shreveport, Louisiana; his son, Shawn Fadely and wife, Michelle, of Pawhuska; step-son, Bob Christenson and wife, Becky, of Pawhuska; step-daughter, Wendy Dunn and husband, Eric, of Norwich, Kansas; sister, Velda Burney and husband, Bob, of Shreveport; grandchildren, Shauna and Tyler Fadely; step-grandchildren, James and Jessica Christenson and Tucker James Dunn and numerous relatives and friends.

Lannie was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Fadely; his first wife, Barbara; a son, Scott and a daughter, Lana Kay.

Services were held Thursday, May 22, at Johnson Funeral Home in Pawhuska with interment in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

WYNOLA WAY WALKER PEARSON

OCNS - May 23, 2003 - Wynola Way Walker Pearson, 95, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2003 at her home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Born July 2, 1907 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter T. and Anna Arbanna (Hanna) Pearson, Wynola married John R. Pearson in Pawhuska on June 29, 1929.   He preceded her in death December 21, 1951.   Mrs. Pearson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include:   Her daughter-in-law, Eleanor Polk Pearson of Carville, Louisiana and two granddaughters, Jamie Pearson Brassett and Susan Pearson Duncan both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by two sons, John R. Pearson, Jr. and James Walker Pearson.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2003 in the First Presbyterian Church of Pawhuska with Reverend Judy Henderson officiating.   Interment of the cremains will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
